History
In 1930, Antonietta, a modern 19th century woman of great determination, founded Torrefazione Marchi-Costarica, which inherited the tradition of the Coffee Houses of the past, meeting places in which the poets, intellectuals and artists of the time discussed politics and life in general over a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.
Antonietta managed the company until 1941, when the coffee shortage caused by the war forced her to close it down.
After the second world war, the trade in coffee resumed and Antonietta’s daughter, Emilia, reopened Torrefazione. The company was taken over by her son Camillo in the fifties.
It was on his initiative that Caffè della Sposa, a blend obtained from eight different types of carefully selected coffee, was created and patented. |
